Trust: Leadership’s Essential Element

“Trust is like blood pressure. It’s silent, vital to good health, and if abused it can be deadly.”

This is a Frank Sonnenberg quote I included in a past blog post. Trust is a subject that has often been discussed on this blog, because it is an essential part of the dynamic, not only in leadership, but in every single relationship.

Trust is a subject that one of our newest additions to the BW Leadership Institute, Rich Diviney, knows more than a little bit about.  For 20+ years, Rich was a Navy SEAL Officer, completing more than 13 overseas deployments. You can be sure that trust was an essential part of every one of his teams’ missions.

Rich has a new post on the BW Leadership Institute website, The Anatomy of Trust. Give it a read and think about how you and your organization views trust.

Truly Human Leadership is found throughout Barry-Wehmiller Companies, where Bob Chapman is Chairman and CEO. A $2+ billion global capital equipment and engineering consulting firm, Barry-Wehmiller’s 11,000 team members are united around a common belief: we can use the power of business to build a better world. Chapman explores that idea in his Wall Street Journal best-selling book, Everybody Matters: The Extraordinary Power of Caring For Your People Like Family, available from Penguin Random House.
